Family reunion t-shirts make a unifying statement at a family reunion picnic, but family reunion t-shirts can be costly. With some time and a group effort, family members can save money by making family reunion t-shirts using these easy steps.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • T-shirt
  • T-shirt transfer paper
  • Iron or heat press
  • Stencil
  • Fabric paint
  1. Step 1

Create a design in PowerPoint or Word or another publishing software using clipart. Include your family name, location, clipart related to the location or theme of the reunion.

  2. Step 2

Test the design by printing a test page on plain paper. If you like the way the design looks, print it on t-shirt transfer paper.

  3. Step 3

Print the t-shirt design onto the t-shirt transfer paper following the directions provided with the transfer paper. Sometimes a reverse image will need to be printed onto the transfer sheets, especially if the t-shirts are white or light grey.

  4. Step 4

Transfer the t-shirt design onto the shirt using an iron or heat press. Check transfer paper directions for the proper heat settings. Place the finished shirts flat and allow to cool.

  5. Step 5

Add nicknames or family identifiers to personalize the shirts. Add sayings such as "David's Son" using fabric markers, stencils and iron on letters.

Tips & Warnings
  • Ask family members to help and create an assembly line to save time. Make it a t-shirt making party.
  • There are different transfer papers for light and bright colored shirts, so be sure to purchase the appropriate one.
