1
Check the weather before you take off to the snow park or mountains. You do not want to be stuck in a blizzard with toddlers. Make sure you carry chains or have snow tires.
-
2
Dress yourself and your toddler appropriately for the weather. Wear the clothing in layers so you can remove or replace clothes as necessary. Make sure that your toddler's clothing does not have any loose drawstrings that can result in strangulation while sledding.

3
Choose a hill with a rolling slope so that you do not crash with a toddler on your sled. Make sure that the hill is snowy and not icy. Ice can result in going so fast that you can lose control of the sled.
-
4
Put a helmet on you and your toddler. Head injuries are the most common accident resulting from sledding. A toddler's head is very fragile.
-
5
Hold your toddler's arms and legs inside the sled so that they are not snagged on something or run over to avoid broken limbs.
-
6
Keep your toddler out of the way of oncoming sleds. The sleds can hit at a very high rate of speed resulting in injury or possibly death.
