Instructions

    • 1

Select an introduction. Use an excerpt from a poem or a popular phrase such as "Our house is full of joy for our new bouncing baby boy."

    • 2

Include the baby's name, either first and middle or full. You should also include the birth date, weight and length. Other birth details to consider are the time and place of the birth.

    • 3

Finish the birth announcement with the parents' names. Put an adjective such as "proud" before the parents names. The closing phrase could read "Proud parents Bill and Tia Sampson." Write the parents first and last names separately (Bill Watson and Tia Sampson) when they do not share the same last name.

    • 4

Include siblings' names after the parents' names. Put grandparents' names after the parents' names for announcements grandparents send to their own friends.

Tips & Warnings

  • Send announcements within the first six months after the birth.

  • For twins, separate the names by putting one name and birth information on one side of the announcement and the other twin's information on the other side of the announcement to give each child its own announcement.

  • It is acceptable to omit unusually large or premature birth weights from the birth announcement.
