How to Find Cool Events at the Smithsonian Institution

The Smithsonian Institution is a national treasure. It is composed of 19 museums, 144 affiliate museums and nine research centers. Each year millions of people visit the Smithsonian Institution, the National Zoo and traveling exhibitions. Finding a cool event that fits your leisure time is an easy task. The choices cover art exhibits, concerts, lectures, films, animals, holiday specials, cultural events and more. Read on to learn how to find cool events at the Smithsonian Institution.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Go to the Smithsonian Institution website. Look at the upper tool bar and select "Events."

  2. Step 2

    See the four columns. From left to right: Events, Upcoming Events, Resident Associate Program and Museum Events. There are plenty of cool things to choose from.

  3. Step 3

    Notice the "Events" column at the left. Four calendar months are available. Pick any day on the calendar to see what is going on.

  4. Step 4

    View the listing of events for that particular day. Note the choices. Films, plays, museum exhibits, zoo programs, lectures, art and all other cultural happenings are listed.

  5. Step 5

    Observe the time and location for each cool event. Ticket price is given. Many events are free. Locations vary. Click your mouse on the event. This will take you to the details.

  6. Step 6

    Go back to the events page. Do the same steps for each column to find other cool activities. Click on the link with your mouse to go to the next page. The Resident Associate Program features educational and cultural venues. The Museum Events feature special and ongoing exhibits at the many Smithsonian museums.

  7. Step 7

    Visit the home page again and click on "Exhibitions." Choose an exhibit that attracts your interest. Some are permanent, others temporary. Don't forget to check out the "Traveling Exhibitions" on that page to find out if something is scheduled for your area.
