Try something different this year. Travel the globe with an alternative spring break and have a much more rewarding experience. Volunteer opportunities are everywhere—in your backyard and throughout the United States. Volunteering can even take you to another country. Read on to learn how to volunteer for spring break.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Find a cause you are excited about. It is easier to donate your time to something you feel strongly about. Whatever cause you decide on, you will likely be able to find something to suit your passion.
Step2
Decide where you want to go. You have lots of options including staying close to home, going out-of-state and going to another country. There are plenty of opportunities for spring break volunteers wherever you choose to go.
Step3
Get your friends involved. For example, a trip to the Gulf Coast to help victims of Hurricane Katrina will be much more fun with your best buddy by your side.
Step4
Make new friends wherever you go. Volunteering doesn't have to be boring and your experience will be much more valuable if you connect with some of the locals.

Tips & Warnings

  • The organization you have chosen may do a background check on you. Organizations need to know their staff, and many times volunteers are asked to interview or fill out an application.
  • Do some research before you volunteer for spring break. Check out the organization you will be volunteering for, especially if you are traveling abroad. Make sure they are a legitimate organization in need of your services.
