Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step1
Learn the language and culture of the country you want to do business in. Deep down we may all be the same, but if you can pick up on your clients' subtle cultural cues, you will be ahead of the game. If you can't learn the language, find a trusted translator.
Step2
Realize that foreign clients will still want you to be a confident leader, just like domestic clients do. While their language and tastes in some things may have changed when you crossed borders, their preference for ethical business will not.
Step3
Go to international trade shows. If you have a product or even just an idea and you know where you want to sell it, attend a trade show in your target area to observe the local business practices and make contacts.
Step4
Develop a marketing plan for your product. It can be tricky to market to foreigners because of cultural differences and varied tastes, so the more you know about your target audience, the better.
Step5
Research what licenses are necessary for doing business in another country, and acquire whatever permits you need.
Step6
Name your business. This will not only be important when obtaining licenses, but it will solidify its existence in your own mind.
