Step 1
Visit a sporting goods retailer or golf supply store. Dick's Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy both carry golf shoes.
-
Step 2
Look at the bottom of the shoes. You don't want metal spikes; they are prohibited on most golf courses. Instead you want shoes that have replaceable plastic spikes. These give you the traction that you need.
-
Step 3
Check the material of the shoes. Buy a pair of shoes that are manufactured out of leather. These are the most comfortable and last the longest.
-
Step 4
Try the golf shoes on. Make sure that they are comfortable and that you will be able to walk long distances in them.
-
Step 5
Choose an appropriate color. Traditional golf shoes were manufactured in black and white, but there are now other color options available. Choose a color combination that works well with your golf wardrobe.
-
Step 6
Purchase leather treatment. Get a bottle of leather treatment lotion to apply to the shoes. This protects and waterproofs them.
