Instructions

    • 1

Do the prep work. Meat fondue doesn't require a lot of work. Simply heat up some vegetable or beef broth in a saucepan on the stove and transfer it over to a fondue pot when it boils. Trim any fat off your meat and cut it into bite-size pieces for dipping.

    • 2

Arrange your dippers on a tray next to the fondue set. You could offer your guests chicken, beef, pork or shrimp.

    • 3

Show your guests how to spear a dipper, then how to hold the meat in the broth for 3 to 5 minutes to cook it.

    • 4

Explain the fondue etiquette rules to your guests: No touching of lips to the fondue fork, no double dipping, and no dropping food into the fondue pot.

    • 5

Give your guests a separate plate and fork with which to transfer over their food while it cools.

    • 6

Replenish the broth or dippers as needed.

Tips & Warnings

  • Serve wine or beer with your beef fondue.

  • All meat should be cut into small bite-size pieces.

  • Keep your broth boiling at all times. If the temperate drops, transfer the broth mixture to a saucepan and heat it over the stove top until it's hot enough.

  • Tradition says that if anyone who drops a piece of food into the fondue pot must either buy the next bottle of wine or plant a kiss on someone of the opposite sex.
