Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fondue set
  • Chocolate fondue recipe
  • Various dippers
  • Plates
  • Napkins
  • Forks
  1. Step 1

Prepare the chocolate fondue according the recipe 30 minutes before your guests arrive. A chocolate fondue can be as simple as melted chocolate chips or something more complex.

  2. Step 2

Transfer the mixture to a lit fondue set once the chocolate is melted.

  3. Step 3

Arrange various dippers on a tray and place it next to the fondue set. Good dippers for chocolate fondue are fruit, angel food cake, brownies, donuts, butter cookies or other sweet items.

  4. Step 4

Instruct guests on how to spear an item, dip it into the fondue and then twirl to remove any excess.

  5. Step 5

Explain the fondue etiquette rule to your guests. The rules include prohibitions on guests' lips touching the fondue forks, double dipping and dropping a piece of food into the fondue pot.

  6. Step 6

Keep track of the dippers and fondue supply. Replenish as needed.

Tips & Warnings
  • Give your guests a separate plate and fork with which to transfer over their food while it cools.
  • Cut all fruit or dippers into bite-size pieces.
  • Tradition says that if you or a guest drops a piece of food into the fondue pot, you have to either buy the next bottle of wine or plant a kiss on someone of the opposite sex.
