Things You'll Need:
- High collared black denim jacket
- Black denim jeans
- Black and white striped shirt
- White socks
- Black Oxford-style shoes
- White fabric pen
- Black hair, your own or from a costume shop
-
Step 1
Use the rhinestones to decorate the back of the leather motorcycle jacket. A large guitar is a suggested motif.
-
Step 2
Check the fit of your leather or denim jeans. To look like Elvis, they must fit snugly.
-
Step 3
Leave the top few inches of the leather jacket unzipped.
-
Step 4
Create an Elvis-style "pompadour" by combing the sides of your hair back, while fanning the top of the hair forward.
-
Step 1
Paint white "stitches", approximately 1/4 to 1/2 inches in length along the seams of the denim jacket and jeans.
-
Step 2
Leave the jacket open so the black and white striped shirt is easily noticed.
-
Step 3
Roll up the cuff of the jeans so that the white socks will show.
-
Step 4
In white lettering, add 'Presley' to the left front of the jacket, and a four-digit jailhouse number to the right side. (In the movie, the prison number on Elvis's jacket actually changes from 6239 to 6240).
-
Step 1
Decorate your white jumpsuit with plenty of glue-on jewels and sequins.
-
Step 2
Save some of the jewels and sequins for the belt, and decorate it lavishly. If the buckle isn't gold, you can spray paint it.
-
Step 3
Starch the collar heavily so that it will stand up easily. If you are able to sew, you can open the seam, cut some cardboard or plastic the same size as the collar, place it in the collar, and close the seam.
-
Step 4
Leave the top three or four shirt buttons unfastened.
-
Step 5
Be creative, and decide where you would like to add fringe, Elvis style. One suggestion is on the underside of the seam. Using fabric glue, glue the fringe along the underarm seams. Let it dry before wearing your Elvis costume.
-
Step 6
Put on your Elvis wig and use cosmetic glue to attach your Elvis mutton-shop sideburns--unless you are fortunate enough to have your own!
