How to Find Public Domain Pictures
Locating the perfect picture from a number of public domain sites can be advantageous to the pocketbook of a non-profit organization as well as any financially strapped individual. Hunting down the perfect picture in the public domain sites can be tiresome yet a fruitful adventure if done right.

Decide the picture you need for your project. It is easier to find what you need when you know what you want.

Determine what category your picture belongs to. The categories include people, types of animals, subjects, computers, abstract and so forth.

Search by category to find what you want. If you need a picture of a black horse, search for pictures of horses, and then refine your search until you find a picture of a black horse.

Find free stock photograph sites. FreePhotoBank, MorgueFile, StockVault, EveryStockPhoto and FreeFoto are some common photography sites.

Search the web for the theme of the picture that you need. At FreePhotobank, when you search for "flowers," over 70 photographs free photographs display.

Check to make sure the picture is free. Right click with the mouse and go to properties. Sometimes the picture has a copyright.

Keep in mind pictures from public domains are reusable pictures.
Organize your search by photo web site and then by category. Try to view each picture just once.
