1
Send out invitations. Try using riddles and puns in your invitations to pique the interest and clue your guests in to the theme of your party. Make sure to include an RSVP request so that you can be completely prepared for the right number of guests. Invite those that you believe will add to the fun of the night, and not take away from it.

2
Make up a plan and map. In order to throw a ghost mystery party successfully, you will need to keep an organized plan that will help you remember where all of your clues and the prize are hidden.

3
Create your ghosts. Either cut out ghost shapes from black construction paper, or create opaque cloth ghosts that can cast a ghostly shadow on the wall with your flashlight. Take time on your ghosts. They are the central theme when you throw a ghost mystery party.
-
4
Give a voice to your ghost. Record yourself giving your guests clues in the form of riddles. These will be played in order to guide your guests from physical clue to physical clue until the winner comes up with the prize. The first clue will be played after the ghosts first appear to your guests, and the ghosts and the clues will guide them through the mystery game.
-
5
Place your clues. Begin near the room your party will begin in. Spread the clues out in the fashion marked on your map, and make sure you place your prize in a place that is not too easy to find. Your initial clues can be easier to find, but the final prize will need to be something the guests will need to work for.

6
Set the scene. Before your guests arrive, make sure you set a fun scene, including frightfully fun appetizers and settings. Use ghost-shaped plates, napkins and treats. Fun settings will help your guests get in the mood.
