Step 1
Use a law website. The Law Guru and The Law websites have legal research and attorneys online to give out free legal advice.
-
Step 2
Email or call an attorney. Find an attorney's email or phone number online and pose your legal query to them. They may reply with a quick response instead of having you come in for a legal consultation.
-
Step 3
Check online forums. Law forums, like the ones found on World Law Direct, allow users to discuss their legal problems with lawyers throughout the country.
-
Step 4
Go in for a free consultation with a lawyer. Before a lawyer requires a retainer, they may offer a chance for you to come in at no cost to see whether or not you have a case.
-
Step 5
Look through law books. Go to the library and ask the librarian to direct you to the section of law books. Look through current editions to find information on your legal problem.

on 1/27/2009 My son has a father whom pays child support whenever he deems fit to. He signed to have my son have his last name only to put me through a paternity test nine months later. He sees my son maybe two or three times a year. My father passed away a month ago, he lived for my son. I would like information on how to begin the process to legally change my son's last name to my father's and mine.

on 11/15/2008 We have all received in the mail, that check with the enclosed contract. Sign and cash that check and you have just agreed to the enclosed contract. Can I change my contract with my credit card company the exact same way?
Enclose a new contract with a check that says if this check is endorsed and cashed the company is now bound by the new contract enclosed, sent to the correspondence address?
