    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • Two drawer pulls or handles
    • One wood window with glass
    • Plexiglas
    • Paint
    • Paint Brushes
    • Screws
    • Screw driver
      • 1

Purchase a window, which when completed, will be the actual tray. A suggested size is 20" by 30", but it can be slightly smaller or larger.

      • 2

Purchase four fence finials, approximately six inches tall. These will be the legs for your breakfast tray.

      • 3

Paint the window and the finials the color of your choice. Let them dry completely.

      • 4

Drill a hole in each corner of the window, where you will later attach the legs.

      • 5

Attach the four legs to each corner of the window with screws.

      • 6

Cut a piece of Plexiglas the same size as the window, and sand the edges. This will protect your tray and make it easy to clean.

      • 7

Stand the tray up and drill holes for two handles on the left and right side of the window. Attach the handles to each side of the window with screws.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Windows and finials can be found at your local home improvement center.

    • Fence finials come in many different shapes, some plain and some decorative. Have fun and let your imagination run wild! You could even use 2X4's cut to size.

    • You can be creative with the handles for your tray. Some ideas are old drawer pulls, copper pipe, hardware, or anything that is strong and solid enough to carry the tray.

    • Experts at your local home supply store are able to easily cut your Plexiglas to the size you request.

    • Fence finials will be pre-drilled, but if you choose a different material for the legs, you will need to drill holes in the ends.

    • Create a vintage tray by using a vintage window. You can find these at your local recycled hardware store or antique shop. For a truly vintage look, don't paint the window, but leave it 'as is', and paint only the legs.
