Step 1
Trim a piece of Styrofoam to 6 inches by 4 inches. Depending on how you want the bed to stand, the base might measure one to four inches off the floor. This is the base of the bed.
-
Step 2
Fashion the bed skirt by creasing fabric in folds and gluing to the base with a hot glue gun. Use straight pins to secure the pleats until the glue dries. If the top edge is too raw and frayed, hot glue an edging of ribbon or cording over the raw edge. Keep in mind the bed spread will cover most of the edges.

Step 3
Cut a piece of foam to 6 inches by 4 inches for the mattress. Sew a small fabric slipcase out of old sheeting to cover the whole mattress. Tuck the open end under and place the mattress on the bed.
-
Step 4
Add a fabric headboard by wrapping fabric over a piece of thick cardboard and attaching to the top of the bed. Alternately, a wooden head and base board can be glued to the top and bottom of the base.
-
Step 5
Sew a bedspread by trimming a piece of heavy felt with ribbon or lace, using a linen handkerchief or quilting a piece of fabric with a diamond stitch. Add the bedspread over the top of the mattress, smoothing the sides down. The bed spread should measure about 7 inches by 8 inches.

Step 6
Create pillows out of fabric scraps and batting. Create large pillow shams, small throw pillows and bolsters. Trim with small fabric roses or lace.
