How to Change a Password in Blackboard

Many distance learning classes use the Blackboard learning system to get class information, assignments and grades to online students. Online students will receive a unique login name and password from their school before a new semester begins. If your assigned password is difficult to remember, you can change it the first time you log in to your Blackboard account.

Things You'll Need:

  • Blackboard account
  1. Step 1

    Log in to your Blackboard account using the website address, login name and password provided by your school or online course instructor. This information should have been sent to you via postal mail or emailed to an email address on file with your school.

  2. Step 2

    Click on the "Personal Information" link under the "Tools" menu to access your personal Blackboard account settings.

  3. Step 3

    Access the password change webpage by clicking on the "Change Password" link.

  4. Step 4

    Type your new password into both the "Password" and "Verify Password" text boxes. Make sure that your new password is easy for you to remember but not easily deciphered by others.

  5. Step 5

    Press the "Submit" button to complete the password change.

  6. Step 6

    Exit your Blackboard account by clicking on the "Log Out" button and log back in using the new password to verify that the change went through.
