How to Send a Message in Blackboard

By eHow Education Editor

Rate: (0 Ratings)

Blackboard messages provide an email-like communication interface between a class instructor and students. Messages do not require students to have an email account as they are stored within the Blackboard account itself. However, unlike email, you cannot send messages to anyone outside of the Blackboard class.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Blackboard account

Step1
Access the Blackboard website for your class. Click anywhere on the class name displayed in the class list to follow the link.
Step2
Navigate to the "Messages" page. Follow the "Communication" link in the course menu. Choose "Messages" from the list of provided options.
Step3
Click the "New Message" button to open the "Compose Message" page.
Step4
Use the "To" button to select the recipients of your message. You can send a message to the class instructor or to fellow students. Select the name of the first recipient and then click on the right arrow. Repeat this process until all recipients are displayed in the "Recipients" box. Click "Submit."
Step5
Type your message subject and body in the fields provided. Make sure that your subject is descriptive. Use the "visual textbox editor" tools to format the body of your message if needed. Add an attachment if necessary.
Step6
Press the "Submit" button to send your message to the recipients selected.
Step7
Go into your "Sent" folder by clicking on the appropriate link. Your message should be displayed.
