Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Plan your visit. Take the tour Monday through Thursday during the academic school year to get a real taste of a typical day at Minnesota State University.
Step2
Schedule your visit with the admissions office. A representative will send you a confirmation and any parking passes you may need. Acquaint yourself with the campus layout, so you won't waste valuable time on the day of the visit looking for the visitor's parking lot and the admissions office.
Step3
Take a portfolio and note paper with you. Write down any questions you'd like to have answered. Also, take any forms you might need. Take a camera too. Visit day may be hectic—pictures will help you recall a variety of situations.
Step4
Arrive early. Take time to visit with an admissions counselor; meet with a financial aid officer as well.
Step5
Tour the campus. Guided tours leave the admissions office at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. each weekday. Don't be shy--ask questions.
Step6
Explore the campus on your own. Visit with a professor in the area of study you'd like to pursue. Ask to sit in on a class too. Visit with students about what they like and don't like about Minnesota State University. If you participate in sports, ask to attend a practice. Check out one of the 200 student groups on campus.
Step7
Evaluate your experience. Write down what you liked and didn't like about the school. This will help you make your final decision.
