Step 1
There are syndicates available on the Internet where you can log on and swap information with professionals and jockeys, but it is the Internet, so who really knows who is behind it. Some are genuine and promise to get the best horseracing tips for you, but do not take up the offer of psychic racing tips; yes they are out there, unbelievable but true, and someone must be betting with them.

Step 2
At the back of most newspapers in the sporting section you will usually find a list of the day's race. Along with the betting odds and runners there will be the newspaper tips for the races. These will sometimes include the favourites mixed in with some longshots. The odds are that some of these horses will come in, so if you know next to nothing and fancy a flutter, try following the tips in the newspapers.

Step 3
Neil Cassady was a Beat legend and inspiration for Jack Kerouac's friend's character Dean Moriarty in the novel On the Road. His racing tip was that the favourite would win in every third race; given the law of averages this may be true, some of the time. The fact that Cassady died on railway tracks without any money may testify otherwise.
