Hummbirds are called the jewels of your garden.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • tubular shaped flowers one will do, but you can add more later.
  • red and organe flowers
  • sugar and water
  • picture to hold the mixture in the refridge
  • hummingbird feeder
  • pole
  1. Step 1

Hummerbirds are also called hummers. They love RED and Orange colors.
Plant red tubular shaped flowers, that are rich in nectar.
Keep several feeders filled with fresh sugar water daily.

  2. Step 2

    Nectar Recipe
I have found that the best recipe is to make your own solution.
I think the birds prefer it over the various instant mixes.
    1 cup sugar
    4 cups water
    boil 1 - 2 minutes
Cool and store in refrigerator up to about 10 days

  3. Step 3

Hummers love bathing. Spay flowers frequently and they will splash among the leaves of the bush or plant.

  4. Step 4

If you want more than one hummingbird, you migh have hummer fights on your hands! they are very protective of their own feeder.

Tips & Warnings
  • To attract more hummers place several around your garden or yard.
  • Keep your feeders clean with fresh nectar.
  • They feed about every 10 - 15 minutes an hour!
  • Sugar and water mixture should be changed daily, even twice a day in the hotter months.
  • Solution will fement and kill them. That would be very sad indeed!
  • Never add red coloring, honey, molasses, or anything else.
