Things You'll Need:
- 1 Stick of Butter
- 1/2 Cup of Sugar
- 2 Eggs
- 2 Tablespoons of Cocoa
- 2 Ounces of Red Food Coloring
- 1 Cup of Buttermilk
- 2 1/2 Cup of Flour
- 1 Teaspoon of Vanilla
- 1 Teaspoon of Vinegar
- 1 Teaspoon of Baking Soda
- For the Icing (or you can buy cream chesse icing)
- 4 Tablespoons of Flour
- 1 Cup of Milk
- 2 Sticks of Butter
- 1 Cup of Sugar
- 1 Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
- 2 Nine Inch Round Cake Pans
- 2 Large Mixing Bowls and 1 Medium Size
- Oven Preheated to 350 degrees F
- Measuring Cups and Spoons
- Electric Mixer
- Large Saucepan to Make Icing

Step 1
Set the sticks of butter out prior to starting to allow them to soften. In one mixing bowl cream together with the electric mixer: 1 stick of butter, 1 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, and 2 eggs. Mix to a paste consistency and then add the following ingredients: 2 tablespoons of cocoa and 2 ounces of red food coloring. Mix thoroughly. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2
Add to the mixture the following: 1 cup of buttermilk, 2 1/2 cup of flour, 1 teaspoons of vanilla extract. When adding these ingredients mix in half of flour, then all of vanilla extract, and finish with the rest of the flour.

In separate mixing bowl combine the following ingredients: 1 tablespoon of vinegar and 1 teaspoon of baking soda. Once this in mixed thoroughly add it to the above mixture and mix together well. Pour in greased nine inch round cake pans and bake in oven at 350 degrees F for 30 to 35 minutes.

Step 4
To make your own icing combine the following ingredients: 4 tablespoons of flour, and 1 cup of milk. Cook over medium heat on stove top until mixture thickens. Let it cool for about a half and hour and beat with electric mixer until fluffy. In separate mixing bowl combine 2 softened sticks of butter, 1 cup of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix together and then combine with first icing mixture. Use this to ice your two nine inch cake layers and add red sprinkles for decorations on icing.
