Cook Healthy Food for Kids - French Toast

Made with whole grain bread, this becomes a nutritious choice for kids' breakfast or lunch.

The ingredients are per person:

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • whole grain bread
  • large egg
  • 3 Tbsp. liquid (water, milk, soya milk, or?)
  • dash of salt
  • dash of cinnamon
  • Pam olive oil spray, or other oil to grease pan
  • icing sugar (optional, to sprinkle on top after cooking)
  • butter or margarine
  • maple syrup
  • pie plate
  • frying pan & pancake flipper
  1. Step 1

Spray the frying pan with Pam. Preheat frying pan over medium heat.

  2. Step 2

Break egg into the pie plate. Add liquid, salt and cinnamon, then beat with a fork until the yolk and white of the egg are completely mixed.

  3. Step 3

Place bread slices in the egg mixture. Let sit for about 20 seconds on each side, so that the bread soaks up some of the egg mixture.

  4. Step 4

Place soaked bread in preheated frying pan. Brown one side, turn, then brown the second side.

  5. Step 5

Remove from frying pan. If you are using icing sugar, sprinkle or sift it over top of the french toast now. Serve hot with margarine/butter and maple syrup.
