Instructions

    • 1

Disconnect your Xbox 360 from your Television. Bring your Xbox 360 and powerbrick to the nearest wall outlet

    • 2

Plug in the Xbox 360 into the powerbrick, connect the powerbrick into the wall outlet.

    • 3

Wrap the Xbox 360 tightly in towel #1. Bundle this tightly from the top down, leaving you to be able to see the front button.

    • 4

place the second towel layer arund the first towel layer, make sure that you can see the start button, push the button, you'll see the three red lights, and as soon as all three are lit, continue bundling the second towel around until it covers the entire Xbox 360.

    • 5

Start a 15 minute countdown on your stopwatch, complete wrapping the Xbox 360 until you cover the front, back, top and bottom completely with your two towels.

    • 6

Keep an eye on the Xbox 360, at the 15 minute mark, unwrap the towels and turn off the Xbox 360. Don't worry if the 3 blinking red lights are still on. It will continue to be on until you turn it off.

    • 7

let the Xbox 360 cool down. Set your stopwatch for 30 minutes of cooldown time.

    • 8

Reconnect your Xbox360 to the Television, reconnect the powerbrick and wall socket, and turn it on. Voila, it should be booting up and ready to play again!

Tips & Warnings

  • Larger towels like beach towels that you can wrap around multiple times works best.

  • This trick will keep your 360 running for a while, if it dies again, repeat the process.

  • If you smell burning while your Xbox360 is underneath the towel, turn it off immediately

While it's true that if you smell *burning*, you should turn off the 360, if you smell *melting solder*, it's actually okay. That's what you want. I did this trick on my 360 a number of times, and I always got the best results when I waited until I could smell the solder.

There are a few competing philosophies on why this works, and the one that most folks are banking on currently is that the manufacturing process of the Xbox 360 contained shoddy soldering connections that fail over time. These are called cold solder points. a cold solder is when two peices of metal SHOULD be connected through a solder, but they arent, but when heated up, they expand and connect. Hope this clarifies it!
