Forgiving people can be as simple as tying your shoe; however, if you've stubbed your big toe, then putting a shoe on can be painful. Lets take a look at how you can slide your shoe on comfortably and bypass the pain by understanding what forgiveness really is.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • You will need to be forgiven to have the power to forgive.
  • You will need to be humble to have the power to forgive
  • You will need your will to forgive
Step1
The first step of forgiveness is to be forgiven. You are not able to give that which you do not have. Forgiveness is available to anybody at anytime. Receiving your forgiveness can not come through good deeds.
"It is by grace that we are forgiven, not of good works, or else people could brag about it" What is this grace? It is found in having a restored relationship with God almighty your creator through Jesus Christ. If you confess Jesus as your Lord, and turn away from sin, then you will be forgiven.
Step2
Use your mouth and verbally confess Jesus Christ as your Lord.
Believe in your heart that God sent Jesus to die in your place and pay for your forgiveness.
Believe that God raised Jesus Christ from the dead after Jesus paid for your sins
Step3
Tell somebody about it let people know that you've received your forgiveness. Make sure the person you tell is a Christian.
Step4
Choose to forgive the person that you need to. If you don't forgive the person, God will not forgive you. If you had a difficult time doing step 1-3. Ask God to specifically forgive you for holding unforgiveness and begin to pray for God to bless the person you are holding unforgiveness against.
Step5
Gain an understanding that forgiveness against another person does not affect the person. It only deteriorates your peace and joy and affects you.
Step6
Forgiveness is a decision, use your will and make the decision to let the hurt and pain and unforgiveness go. The sooner you let go of it, the quicker you can grab on to Gods joy and peace.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your thoughts bring you feelings of anger and confusion or pain regarding the person you chose to forgive. Then speak out loud to your self:
  • I forgave ______________ (say their name)
  • Say a little prayer for God to bless ______________ (say their name)
  • Be careful to not be easily offended if and when the person continues to be hateful to you. They still may not have forgiven you, so pray for that too.
  • Now enjoy you life with freedom.

on 4/30/2008 I don't believe that you need to be a Christian to forgive a person. But nice use of eHow to preach.
