How to Prepare for the SAT Test Day

Schedule your SAT testing time for your best time of day. If you have the option of selecting a time of day to test then pick the time when you will be most alert. If you are not a morning person, try to schedule a testing time in the afternoon hours.

Set aside enough time in your schedule for the SAT to avoid feeling rushed. If you can, leave the rest of your day open. Scheduling a doctor's appointment later in the day may cause your thoughts to wander during the test and leave you feeling rushed as the timer runs down.

Memorize the directions for the question types found in the SAT. If you know the directions in advance you will not have to waste test time reading and will be able to go directly to the questions.

Rest up the day and evening before your test. Take a break from studying and go out with your family or friends to help settle your nerves. Don't try any last minute cramming as this may cause unnecessary tension.

Take a few snacks and a drink with you to the SAT testing center. Eat something just before your test and break it out later after the test is over.
