Picnics are a great way to get a little private time with your partner. With a well-planned menu, an elegant picnic basket, some mood-enhancing extras and a romantic setting, you'll be prepared for an impressive and memorable picnic date. You can pull off a romantic picnic for two with all the bells and whistles and very little stress as long as you think ahead.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Purchase a picnic basket for two that includes plates, cups, utensils, and cloth napkins at the least. Many picnic baskets also include a tablecloth, salt & pepper shakers, cutting board, cheese knife, cooler compartment and wine opener. Fully loaded picnic baskets make it much easier to plan any picnic because you don't have to hunt down all the individual items you need.
Step2
Get a roll-up picnic blanket with waterproof backing so you and your date will be protected from moisture and insects. You'll need it to get comfortable during and after the meal.
Step3
Plan the menu, focusing on simple, elegant food combinations such as antipasto platters with fresh fruit, a baguette and wine. Don't choose anything that will be messy, difficult to transport, or totally unromantic (like greasy hot wings). If you're opposed to the idea of cooking or want to really play it safe, call your favorite restaurant and order your favorite meals to go.
Step4
Scope out the perfect setting. Choose a place with a romantic ambiance, like the beach at sunset or a mountain overlook. Some other ideas include rooftop terraces, lakeside pavilions or a place that's special to the two of you. Make sure there won't be issues with traffic, bugs or other potential spoilers.
Step5
Bring along some romantic extras like flowers, candles and a mix CD of your favorite love songs to play from the car stereo.
