How to Plan a Skiing Trip to Mt. Charleston, Nevada

Mt. Charleston is not just a great escape from the Las Vegas heat in the summertime. It's also a great winter retreat for outdoor enthusiasts. Lee Canyon Ski resort is just a short drive from the Las Vegas strip, so you can easily strap on your skis and hit the slopes at Mt. Charleston.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Goggles
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
  • Lip balm
  • Skis
  • Bibs
  • Parka
  1. Step 1

    Purchase lift tickets at the resort using a credit card or cash. Tickets are available for full- and half-day skiing.

  2. Step 2

    Rent ski equipment from the Lee's Canyon rental shop. Rent skis, boots, parkas and bibs.

  3. Step 3

    Bring goggles or sunglasses. Purchase these items at the Lee's Canyon Sports Shop if you do not have them with you.

  4. Step 4

    Wear plenty of sunscreen and lip balm. The weather is unpredictable on the mountain. It can snow one minute and have blue skies the next.

  5. Step 5

    Take ski lessons from the PSIA/AASI nationally accredited ski and board school at Mount Charleston. Lessons are available for both children and adults.

  6. Step 6

    Eat at the Big Horn Cafe or Bristlecone Bar. Both eateries are open daily. Bring snacks to put in your pocket for a quick bite on the lift.

  7. Step 7

    Store ski equipment at Mt. Charleston for the season. Rent a locker (available on a first come, first serve basis) for the entire ski season.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wear layered clothing.
  • Wear a hat even on sunny days to keep your head warm.
  • Check the snow report and base conditions online.
