Things You'll Need:
- Sixty dollars
- Driver's license or state-issued ID
- Extra fee if you wish your permit to be laminated
-
Step 1
Verify that you meet the requirements for applying for a concealed carry permit. You must be 21 years old, not convicted of a felony or found not guilty of a felony by reason of insanity and do not have any outstanding warrants.
-
Step 2
Pick up an application for a concealed carry permit at your local sherriff's department or chief of police. You will have to submit this application in person. When you go to pick up your application, it may save you time if you are prepared to fill it out on the spot.
-
Step 3
Pay a $60 application fee when you turn in your application. You will also need your driver's license or state-issued ID and you must be fingerprinted. Usually, you will be fingerprinted at the same time you turn in your application.
-
Step 4
Laminate your permit to carry a concealed gun or pay an additional fee to have it laminated.
-
Step 5
Renew your concealed carry permit after five years.
-
Step 6
Remember that you cannot carry a concealed gun with or without a permit at schools, courthouses, jails, mental facilities, any areas where people younger than 21 years are not allowed (like liquor stores), and music festivals. on 5/12/2009 The best permit is the Utah permit. It allows you to carry in 30 plus states. Washington is one of them. Oregon does not accept Utah permit. I'm currently waiting for my Oregon and also Utah permit. Utah use to take 60 days. It is now taking 90 to 120 days. I sent Utah my fingerprints, the Utah class certification certificate (4 hour course), and $60. Utah will not start to process your application until your check clears. It took them 30 days to clear my check and my 60 days starts from that point.

on 5/2/2009 Again I stress this is for CONCEALED carry. Open carry is fair game without any BS license, permit, etc...!!!!!!!!!Sorry about the multiple comments. this is the first time I have ever answered anything here. I wish there was a way to go back and consolidate them all into one window but hey, at least the information is there right?

on 5/2/2009 To answer the original question YES you can be issued a non-resident Washington CPL. Here's the catch......... You have to apply IN PERSON. You can do so at ANY Washington law enforcement agency. I would recommend a small town sheriff's department or police department as you'll get served faster and they are less likely to give you any grief about it.
