If you want to be a cosmetologist in Arkansas, you must be prepared. To get a license here, you'll need to get special training. Here is how you can get a cosmetology license in Arkansas.

    Requirements for Cosmetology License

  1. Step 1

    Make sure you have at least two years of high school education before you apply for your cosmetology license.

  2. Step 2

    Complete at least 1500 hours of practical training from a licensed cosmetology school in Arkansas. If you attended cosmetology school in another state, you can apply to have your courses transferred.

  3. Step 3

    Take the cosmetology license exam through the Arkansas State Board of Cosmetology. In order to pass, you'll need at least a 70 score on the written part of the exam and a 75 on the practical part.

  4. Complete Your Paperwork

  5. Step 1

    Complete a license application form.

  6. Step 2

    Complete and submit a Certification of Hours form. This form registers that you have completed the 1500 hours of training.

  7. Step 3

    Complete a paid-in-full contract.
