Make sure you have at least two years of high school education before you apply for your cosmetology license.

Be sure you fit the age requirement. In Arizona, you cannot get a cosmetology license unless you are at least 23 years old.

Have at least 1600 hours of practical training from a licensed cosmetology school in Arizona. If you attended a cosmetology school in another state, you can apply to have your courses transferred.

Pass a written and practical cosmetology exam.

If you fail part of your exam, don't worry! In Arizona, you can retake the part of the test you failed.

You do NOT need to be over 23 to get your license in Arizona. That is completely false; I'm not 23 and I have my license.
