Relaxation can be only a moment away when you have your own hammock. Whether it is indoors, out in your backyard or on a deck of your favorite vacation spot, precious moments in a hammock can bring you hours of tranquility. Read these tips to learn how to relax in a hammock.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Hammock
  • Pillow
  • A good book or telescope
  • Refreshments (optional)
  • Folding table (optional)
  • A little downtime to enjoy the hammock
  1. Step 1

Set up your hammock if it is not already in place. For an outdoor hammock, do this on a nice day or night. If your hammock is indoors, you can enjoy it anytime you have a few free minutes.

  2. Step 2

Occupy others around you, such as a spouse or children, with a movie or send them out for ice cream.

  3. Step 3

Locate a pillow to rest your head in a position of comfort. If you plan to sleep, a flat pillow or even no pillow will work, depending on your preference. If you plan to read, a thicker pillow might be just the right choice.

  4. Step 4

Get into some comfortable clothes. Whether a t-shirt and shorts or a tracksuit is your style, find something comfy. If you will be outdoors and insects such as mosquitoes are out, you may want to spray some repellent, or light a citronella candle away from your area of relaxation.

  5. Step 5

Find a good book if you plan to read. For nighttime relaxation, you may want a telescope to look at the moon and stars.

  6. Step 6

Bring a refreshments and folding table so you will not have to get up once you sit back and relax.

  7. Step 7

Sit back and enjoy your moments of peace. Be careful to keep your balance so you do not end up relaxing on the ground instead.
