Pita chips offer a healthy alternative to potato chips, tortilla chips or other snack foods loaded with fat. They complement appetizer spreads and taste great with hummus. Here's a recipe to make your own.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 12 Pita Pockets
  • 1/2 cup Olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp. Black pepper
  • 1 tsp. Garlic salt
  • 1/2 tsp. Dried basil
  • Kitchen scissors
  • Kitchen brush
  • Baking pan
  • Non-stick spray
  1. Step 1

Pre-heat the oven to 425 degrees.

  2. Step 2

Cut the pitas into 8 pieces. You may stack 2 pitas together and use kitchen scissors to quicken the process.

  3. Step 3

Combine olive oil, garlic salt, pepper, and basil in a bowl. Stir until thoroughly mixed.

  4. Step 4

Using a kitchen brush, lightly brush each small triangle of pita with the olive oil mix.

  5. Step 5

Spray baking sheet with a non-stick spay.

  6. Step 6

Arrange your chips on the sheet. Do not arrange more than 1 double layer.

  7. Step 7

Place the sheet in the oven. Your chips should bake for about 7 minutes. Start keeping an eye on them after 5 minutes, as they can easily burn.
