A Manhattan "up" mixes the robust taste of bourbon with the sweet juice of cherries and a hint of sweet vermouth. If you're tired of the standard old martini, and aren't into the fruity martini variations, then you must try a Manhattan "up." Here is a great recipe.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bourbon
  • Sweet vermouth
  • Maraschino cherries and juice
  • Ice cubes
  • Shaker
  • Martini glass, chilled
  1. Step 1

Combine ice, 3 oz. of bourbon (2 shots), a healthy splash of sweet vermouth and an even healthier splash of cherry juice into your shaker.

  2. Step 2

Cap your shaker and give the drink a good sturdy shake for about 15 seconds.

  3. Step 3

Pour the Manhattan into a chilled martini glass using a strainer.

  4. Step 4

Finish the drink by garnishing it with two cherries. Let them sink to the bottom of the glass. Start sipping.

Tips & Warnings
  • Some people like to add a dash of Angostura Bitters. Add these in the shaker along with the rest of your ingredients before shaking your Manhattan.
