How to Make Queso Fundido

The popularity of Mexican cuisine has spread all over the country. Queso Fundido is a delicious hot dip that is always a hit when you need to bring an appetizer to a gathering. Follow the steps below to make this dish.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1 pound spicy sausage
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 Tablespoon chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
  • 1 jar medium salsa
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Chili powder
  • Skillet
  • Medium size baking dish

Step1
Brown the spicy sausage, ground beef and onion in a skillet over low heat until no pink remains in the meat. Drain and place in a medium baking dish.
Step2
Arrange black olives over the cooked meat mixture in a baking pan.
Step3
Open salsa and spread over the meat mixture and black olives.
Step4
Sprinkle cheddar cheese over the mixture in the baking dish.
Step5
Bake in preheated 350-degree oven for 20 minutes, until golden brown and heated through.
Step6
Serve with tortilla chips.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use chorizo sausage in the Queso Fundido. This spicy Mexican sausage is available in most grocery stores.
  • Sour cream on the side is an option.
  • If you don't care for very spicy dishes, substitute mild salsa for medium and regular pork sausage for the spicy variety.
  • Make sure you drain the sausage and ground beef well after browning. There will be too much oil in the finished product if you do not drain well.
