    • Bowl full of water
    • Lighter
    • Towels
    • Cotton balls
    • Scissors

Make sure the person you are about do ear candling on is in a relaxed mood. Put on some soft music to relax them, and let them breath softly for awhile. Let them lie on their back and place a towel around their neck to protect them. Provide a comfy pillow that they can balance their head on and put a towel on the pillow too.

      • 2

Add some warm oil to the person's ear. It can be vegetable oil or olive oil which will soften the wax inside the ear. Let the oil sit in the ear for 3 minutes and let it drain out of the ear.

      • 3

Make sure you have a bowl full of water nearby in case the flame is too much. Light the end of one of your ear candles or cones and tap it a bit until a little smoke comes out the small end. Once this happens, place the small end into the person's ear carefully. There shouldn't be any smoke escaping from the ear at this time.

      • 4

Have some scissors or clippers nearby. The person should feel suction and hear a crackling noise, which is all created through the vacuum of the ear candle. Cut off ashes and pieces of the ear candle or cone as it burns down. Put these pieces in your bowl.

      • 5

Stop when the candle reaches within 4 inches of the person's face. Take out the remainder of the ear candle and put it in the bowl of water. Dab the ear with a cotton ball to absorb any extra oil.

      • 6

Use another ear candle on the same ear if the person still feels blocked in that ear. Give them some cotton balls for their ears as the ears might be sensitive to the wind or noise in the beginning. Voila! You are finished ear candling!

    Tips & Warnings

    • Provide cotton balls to individuals after they have had their ears done to prevent loud noises or wind from irritating them.

    • Do not allow the flame on the ear candle within 4 inches of the face.
