Locks of Love is a not-for-profit organization that makes wigs for children that suffer from hair loss. Many of the wigs are made from human hair, to impart more natural look and feel. Donating hair to Locks of Love is an easy process and is a great way to help children in need.

    Things You'll Need

    • Six to ten inches of hair cut into a ponytail
    • Sealable plastic bag
    • Donation form
    • Padded envelope

        Have long hair cut off in a ponytail. Locks of Love needs a minimum of six inches per donation. Hair that is six to ten inches will be sold, and the money will be used for production costs. Hair that is ten inches and longer will be used to make a wig.

        Leave the hair in the ponytail once it is cut. Put the ponytail in a sealable plastic bag.

        Download a donation form from the Locks of Love website. Fill out the form.

        Place the donation form and the hair in a padded mailing envelope. Seal the envelope tightly, using tape if needed.

        Address the envelope to 2925 10th Ave N Suite 102, Lake Worth, FL 33461. Put your return address on the envelope.

        Mail the package. You will receive a response from Locks of Love within approximately 90 days from their receipt of your hair.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Donate gray hair too. It is not used for a child's wig, but is sold. The money is used to manufacture wigs.

    • Bleached hair cannot be accepted.
