Things You'll Need:
- Hugger ceiling fan
- Outlet box
- Handy man's kit
-
Step 1
Visit local electronics or hardware stores to make a list of brand names. Ask for customer reviews before purchasing a quality hugger ceiling fan.
-
Step 2
Choose the hugger fan that is proportionate to the size of your room. Place the parts on the ground in order of their installation. Turn off the power from the main source. Remove any old fan part from the ceiling.
-
Step 3
Note if the outlet is pre-wired and separate from the light switch or not. Remember the wires for the fan and the light switch. Fix the bracket to the blades of the hugger fan with insulated bolts. Place the canopy right on the motor assembly of the hugger fan.
-
Step 4
Use a metal outlet box specifically designed for ceiling fans. Position this box at the right place in the ceiling and place all wires from the outlet in the outlet box.
-
Step 5
Fix the base plate to the outlet box. Hang the motor assembly from the ceiling with a hook and attach the fan wires together from the outlet box and the motor assembly. Follow the wire instructions that come with the fan box.
-
Step 6
Check for power in the motor assembly. Turn on the electricity from the main switch and note if the motor is working or not. Turn the power off again and secure the hugger fan securely to the ceiling. Finally attach the blades to the fan motor via the insulated bolts.
