Throwing a theme party is a great way to shake up a normal celebration. If you're planning a theme party of your own and are bored to tears with togas and pajamas, consider making your next shindig a white trash bash. It's easy on the wallet and guaranteed to provide an evening of laughs and embarrassing pictures.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Atmosphere

Step1
Make appropriate invitations. Remember, the opposite of class and sophistication is the ultimate goal. Use notebook or construction paper, or really get into the spirit of things by writing on the back of beer labels.
Step2
Browse local flea markets for possible decorations. They are often a good place to find rebel flags and off-color stickers and posters. You might even find your outfit for the occasion there!
Step3
Adorn the party space with any wrestling, car racing, and action movie poster you can find. If your walls can take it, mounting the posters with duct tape adds a very nice touch. Tack those flea market flags up too, if you found any.
Step4
String up Christmas lights for an added touch of pizazz. Border the doors, wind them around the buffet, anywhere you can think of. Again, duct tape adds some flare, if your walls are willing.
Step5
Incorporate your television into the decor. Consider a looping video of Jerry Springer, Cops, and monster truck rallies.
Step6
Find music that fits the atmosphere. You can't go wrong with southern rock.

Dining

Step1
Pick adequate serving dishes such as margarine tubs, chicken buckets, and whipped topping bowls.
Step2
Keep the theme in mind when selecting party cuisine. Chicken fingers, cheese in a can, hooch, cheap beer and pigs in a blanket are all excellent choices. Of course, menu is not as important as the matter of serving which was covered in Step 1.
Step3
Forget about napkins! Throw a couple of rolls of paper towels on the table and call it a happy day.

Attire

Step1
Include costume ideas in your invitations to give guests an idea of what to wear for the gala affair. Suggest tee-shirts with cut-off sleeves, cut-off shorts, trucker caps, giant belt buckles, tube tops, blue eyeshadow, and teased hair. These are just a few ideas, but at least they'll have something to go on.
Step2
Check the sporting goods stores for various types of hunting attire. Anything in the day-glo orange category is a sure fire hit.
Step3
Find headgear such as bandannas and trucker caps at just about any truck stop in your area.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have access to one of those giant wooden spools used for wrapping cables, consider yourself lucky! Wrap some Christmas lights around the middle and you've got a fabulous and festive table.
