Things You'll Need:
- Pom poms in various sizes and colors
- Pipe cleaners
- Wiggly eyes
- Craft foam
- Wooden dowels
-
Step 1
Pick a medium black pom pom and large pom pom ball in red for a ladybug, yellow for the bumble bee or green for the bug. Line the pom poms up to create a head and body.
-
Step 2
Wrap a black pipe cleaner around the middle of the balls keeping them in order, head and body. This will create two sections in the pom poms and attach the two together. Twist the pipe cleaner together at the bottom of the balls and cut off excess pipe cleaner.
-
Step 3
Cut pipe cleaner to match your bug into two inch sections. For each bug, slip three pieces of pipe cleaner under the large pom pom through the black pipe cleaner. The black pipe cleaner should hold the colored pipe cleaners in place. These are your bug's legs; bend them to look like legs.
-
Step 4
Slide a two inch piece of colored pipe cleaner under the black pipe cleaner at the tip of the bug head. This is the bug's antenna. Curl the antenna and shape.
-
Step 5
Glue wiggly eyes to your bug's head. Pick a mini pom pom to match your bug and glue it on the head for the bug nose.
-
Step 6
Cut wings from a colored craft foam piece. Glue them to the body of the bug and let dry. Cut small black circles to glue to the lady bug for spots.
-
Step 7
Wrap a pipe cleaner around the top of the wooden dowel making sure it is secure. Connect the pipe cleaner to the underside of the bug by slipping it under the black pipe cleaner on your bug.
