Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Get a schedule of events. Knowing what events you will attend will help you organize what items are essential for you to pack. Determine if you will need casual clothes or formal clothes as well as your normal business attire.
Step2
Make a list of essential items. Inevitably, you will arrive at your destination only to realize that you left something at home. The goal is for that item to be nonessential. Begin your list with documents, files or other work related items that you will need while traveling. Follow this with a list of clothing, toiletries, shoes and additional things you will want.
Step3
Research your accommodations. Many hotels offer in-room ironing boards, an array of toiletries and access to commonly forgotten items. The place where you stay may also offer a laundry service. By knowing what is available at your hotel you can save space in your suitcase.
Step4
Choose fabrics that will work well for the location where you are traveling. Clothes that are wrinkle resistant are always a good choice, but also consider the temperature of the region and whether you will be spending time indoors or out.
Step5
Mix and match your outfits. Some people pick one color and plan their entire wardrobe around it. Others pack one suit and choose two or three shirts and accessories that will complement the suit. Mixing and matching will give you the appearance of having more outfits than you really do.
Step6
Maximize your space. To save space, pack smaller items, like socks or hose, inside your shoes. Depending on how long you will be traveling for business, consider vacuum sealing your clothing in order to condense the space needed for them.
Step7
Pack everything in a carry-on size suitcase if possible. Regardless of how you travel, space for luggage may be limited. If you will be flying, having all your items in a carry-on suitcase will ensure that your luggage gets to your destination with you.
