Receiving plenty of Christmas cards during the holidays is typical. Imagine the delight and surprise on the faces of friends and family when they go to their mailboxes and find a Thanksgiving card that you have created yourself. Although there are many mediums you can use, the steps below will help you create a rubber stamped Thanksgiving card.

From Quick Guide: Gearing Up for Thanksgiving
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Card stock
  • Ink pads
  • Rubber stamps
  • Embellishments
  • Envelopes
  1. Step 1

Take a trip to your local crafts store such as Michael's, A.C. Moore or Hobby Lobby. Find the aisle with the rubber stamping and scrapbooking supplies.

  2. Step 2

Decide which colors you want to use on the Thanksgiving cards you create. Stick with fall colors such as gold, orange, green and brown if you want a traditional look. Purchase card stock and inks to work with in the colors that appeal to you.

  3. Step 3

Choose the rubber stamps that you want to use on your cards. There are many stamps available and you should have no difficulty finding a cornucopia, turkey or leaves that will depict a traditional Thanksgiving card.

  4. Step 4

Take the Thanksgiving card that you create to another level by purchasing some coordinating ribbon, brads, buttons or other small items for embellishment.

  5. Step 5

Cut an 8 1/2 x 11 inch piece of cardstock in half. You will now have two pieces that measure 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches. Fold in half so that your card measures 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches. This will give you two cards to work on per piece of card stock.

  6. Step 6

Be as creative as you want to be with your stamps and embellishments. Use different colors of cardstock to create different layers on the handmade Thanksgiving card. Use double stick tape or a glue stick to adhere the different elements of your card.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use traditional invitation size envelopes that measure 5 3/4 x 4 1/2 inches. You can find these in the card making and scrapbooking aisle with your other supplies. Don't forget to stamp an image on the envelope.
  • Don't miss the postal deadline for mailing your handmade Thanksgiving card.
