Whether your family likes to load up the car with luggage, kids and pets to hit the road or they prefer to hop on a plane and arrive at a destination, family vacations are a staple of fun for most families. Even resorts now offer family vacation packages and accommodations for families.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Determine the location for your family vacation. Some locations like Florida will offer a vast selection of family vacation resorts. Other locations that may not be as popular may only have one resort that is truly designed for family vacations.

  2. Step 2

Consult reviews. Websites, travel agents, friends and family are all good sources of information when it comes to family vacation resorts. Find out what reviews have been written on resorts in the area you plan to visit. Get feedback from friends and family who have recently traveled to the destination.

  3. Step 3

List activities that your family will want to do while on vacation. Make a list of the activities Let each person in your family list at least one activity they want to do. Search for a resort that will provide these activities. Just because a resort is designed for family vacations does not mean that is the right resort for your family.

  4. Step 4

Compare amenities. Find out what is included when you stay at a resort. Many resorts will include a fitness center, spa, golf-course, babysitting, an indoor pool or even the option to bring a pet along. Make sure you compare what different resorts in the same area have to offer.

  5. Step 5

Consider meal time. All-inclusive resorts generally have select options for food and drinks. A non-inclusive resort will usually have dining options, but it may not be cuisine that your family will like. You will want to find out how far away other food alternatives are to the resort.

  6. Step 6

Know your price range. You may find the family vacation resort of your dreams only to find out that it is not in your price range. Compare what you get for the price with what you really need from a resort.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your vacation dates are flexible, you can often sign up to receive discounted rates and offers from select resorts.
