Sea salt scrubs generally use a combination of essential oils and sea salt to exfoliate dead, dry skin and hydrate the new skin to help it appear and feel younger. Sea salt scrubs can be used on the whole body except the face, where the skin is too sensitive. However, it is great for callused areas such as heels, elbows and hands.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Open the jar and mix the contents. Most scrubs use an oil base, so the oil and the salt will separate upon sitting. Mix thoroughly to even out the ingredients.
Step2
Pour 1 scoop, about 1 tablespoon, into the palm of your hand. Gently massage it into the skin. If applying to feet, make sure to thoroughly massage it onto the heels.
Step3
Let the rub rest on your skin for a few minutes to allow all the oils to absorb into your skin.
Step4
Gently rinse off the excess salt. You should still feel the soft silkiness of the oil on your skin.
Step5
Pat dry with a clean soft towel; don't rub dry. You shouldn't need to apply lotion at this time. Your skin should feel soft and silky.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use a salt scrub that has essential oils, not mineral oil. Mineral oil won't be absorbed into the deeper layers of the skin; it will wash away.
  • Tighten the jar lid as much as possible. The oil will leak, so don't travel with salt scrub in your suitcase.
  • Don't use a salt scrub on areas of skin that have cuts and abrasions. The salt will cause the area to burn.
