Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Polish the ring with a clean cloth. This removes any dirt and oil that has built up while you have been wearing it.

  2. Step 2

Place the sapphire ring on top of a towel. Use a commercial fine jewelry cleaner to begin scrubbing the ring. These cleaners typically come with a soft bristled brush that you can use.

  3. Step 3

Clean the entire ring thoroughly. Scrub the prong area, the inside and the outside of the band.

  4. Step 4

Fill a bowl with lukewarm water. Submerge the ring in the water for several minutes to remove all dirt and soap residue.

  5. Step 5

Dry the ring with a soft towel. Return the ring to your finger or place in a cool, dry area for storage.

  6. Step 6

Wash the jewelry cleaner brush. You want to clean the brush before you replace the brush into the cleaning solution.

Tips & Warnings
  • You do not need to worry about damaging the sapphire ring during scrubbing. Sapphires are one of the hardest gemstones.
  • You can also use an ultrasonic cleaner to clean sapphires. Sapphires are able to withstand the sonic waves used to clean the jewelry.
  • You must take your sapphire ring annually to your jeweler for a deep cleaning. They can also repair any damage that your ring may have sustained.
