Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wheat-free pasta
  • Large stock pot
  • Measuring cups
  • Large spoon for mixing
  • Kitchen timer
  • Colander
  1. Step 1

Go shopping. Many grocery stores now carry wheat-free pastas alongside traditional pastas, but if you have difficulty locating gluten-free products, you may be better off looking in a health-food store.

  2. Step 2

Pick a shape. You can choose among macaroni, spaghetti, bow-tie, spirals, shells, linguine and various other shapes.

  3. Step 3

Heat four quarts of water in a large stock pot until it reaches a boil.

  4. Step 4

Add one pound of wheat-free pasta slowly to the boiling water. Heat it until it returns to a boil, stirring gently to prevent the pasta from sticking together.

  5. Step 5

Set your kitchen timer for the time recommended on the package and continue to stir until the timer goes off.

  6. Step 6

Transfer the pasta to a colander over the sink and drain the water.

  7. Step 7

Toss with your favorite sauce and enjoy.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can store uncooked wheat-free pasta for up to 8 months in your cupboard.
  • Some pasta shapes work with some dishes better than others. Light sauces work well with delicate shapes, while heavy sauces can stand up to hearty shapes such as shells and macaroni.
  • Make sure to read the package to check for cooking times; different shapes require different lengths of cooking.
  • Forgo rinsing your wheat-free pasta; it will prevent your sauce from sticking to your pasta.
