How to Attend Eucharistic Adoration

According to the Catholic Church, Jesus is present in the Eucharist in a unique way. One practice that directly reflects this belief is attending Eucharistic adoration. During adoration Catholics can pray before the Body of Christ exposed on the altar. A chapel with the Eucharist exposed is an intimate setting for prayer. Adoration is typically carried out in silence, which allows each visitor to pray in their own way.

    Tips & Warnings

    • If you do not understand adoration or have more questions, ask a priest.

    • If you are not Catholic, feel free to attend adoration. You should show some sign of reverence or respect when entering the chapel.

    • Exposition is when the Eucharist is first put on the altar. Reposition is when the Eucharist is returned to the tabernacle.

    • Be careful not to disturb others when you attend adoration. If you have to talk or ask someone questions, just tap them on the shoulder and leave the chapel together.
