How to Make a Bowl From a Vinyl Record
Vinyl records are plentiful at yard sales and thrift shops. Recycle this common item into a fun, retro bowl to keep your keys fruit or other items in. These crafty bowls are easy to make and they make a unique gift.
Instructions

1
Preheat the oven to around 200 degrees F. Allow the oven to heat up for several minutes.
-
2
Place the vinyl record on top of an upside down, oven safe bowl. Ideally the oven will have a window that you can observe the record through. Remove the record when it begins to soften and collapse over the bowl. The time for the bowl to soften may vary depending on your oven but generally takes between two and eight minutes.

3
Remove the record and bowl from the oven when the record is soft enough to mold. Although the vinyl record should not be very hot, use potholders in the beginning just in case it is warmer than expected.
-
4
Turn the bowl right side up. Place the softened record inside of the bowl and mold it into the shape that you want. You can push down on the record with another bowl, or mold it with your hands. The record will harden in 30 seconds to a minute so you will need to work fast in order to get it in the shape you want.
-
5
Let the vinyl record bowl cool and then use it to store items in, as a flower pot or any other use that you can think of.

Tips & Warnings
To clean the record bowl, wipe it down with a wet cloth. It is not dishwasher safe.
Try modeling the vinyl record into or around different shaped bowls and items for different sizes and shapes.
Place the record back in the oven if you find it has hardened to quick and try molding again.
