Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Research federal groups like the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency). The EPA has posted resources on the web for educators and administrators and its employees are presumed to be knowledgeable about federal grants for greening.
Step2
Look up state resources. Each state has its own legislature and rows of offices dedicated to shaping that state's schools. Look online or call a government liaison office to discuss the future of green schools in your state.
Step3
Research stand-alone groups like the Green Schools Initiative that are working independently to encourage green schools. It might be helpful to note individuals involved and talk to them about future greening.
Step4
Contact your school district office. The district office should be aware of any green school projects in your area and should be able to direct you to newspaper articles and contact persons.
Step5
Start your own green schools initiative. As a taxpayer, a local resident has some say in the future of the schools that all of us help pay for. Get a group together and plan for awareness projects that might get the idea for green schools into the district's board meetings.
