Things You'll Need:
- Masking tape or blue painter's tape
- Screwdriver or grout saw
- Grout
- Grout trowel
- Wet towel or sponge
-
Step 1
Use masking tape or blue painter's tape to cover the tile around the grout you are going to remove to avoid scratching the tile.
-
Step 2
Dig out grout you want to replace with a screwdriver or a grout saw. A grout saw can be purchased at any hardware store and is designed just for this job. Dig down to solid grout and scratch it a bit so the new grout has something to grab onto.
-
Step 3
Vacuum away any dust or chunks of grout.
-
Step 4
Remove the masking tape or blue painter's tape.
-
Step 5
Mix up replacement grout according to the manufacturer's instructions. Be sure the new grout matches the old grout. Either buy some new grout mix in the same color or maybe you have some old mix sitting around.
-
Step 6
Grout the tile. Put some grout on a grout trowel and apply it between the tiles. Pack it in making sure to completely fill the cracks.
-
Step 7
Clean the tiles with a wet towel or sponge after the grout has set about 5 minutes.
-
Step 8
Let the grout cure overnight then seal the grout with grout sealer.
