Step 1
Learn about tofu. Find out about its health benefits, and familiarize yourself with its different types. Read cookbooks, and collect recipes you or your family might enjoy. Also, think of ways to exchange meat or cheese with tofu in your favorite dishes.
-
Step 2
Purchase tofu at the health food store or Asian market. Also, look for tofu in the produce or refrigerated natural foods section of your grocery store.
-
Step 3
Gradually incorporate tofu into your family's diet, starting with the smoothest textures. Start by blending silken tofu into smoothies and shakes. Also, try soft tofu in dips, puddings, cheesecake and quiche. Don't tell them it's tofu, and see if they notice a difference.
-
Step 4
Experiment a little more, gradually incorporating crumbled firmer textured tofu into seasoned ground meat dishes such as tacos, casseroles, pasta and Sloppy Joes. Scramble with or without eggs, and wrap it in a tortilla for breakfast burritos.
-
Step 5
Replace chicken, beef, pork and fish with extra firm tofu. Slice and marinate it, slap it on the grill or stir-fry it.
